If you take Geisha and Kona off the table, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe would be my favorite single origin for coffee, I prefer these roasted to a full city +
The rich smooth taste of these beans never disappoint me.

I see some pretty varied reviews on this konga. I like single origin coffees because they taste different from each other. Usually the more unique they are the more i like them.
I like this stuff a lot. I ordered more right away. I dont think it has any notes that are so stand out that its too much.

Wow! What a great coffee. It tastes like a very nice blended coffee with a special coffee twist at the end making it I'm sure a loved standard for many. My brother in law loves this one as well. This will be on my shelf as a regular but hard to keep on it as it will go fast. Highly recommended.

I'm usually a fan of natural process Ethiopians, so I wasn't expecting much from this washed variety. And to make matters worse, I accidentally let the roast go darker than I intended on my gas grill rotisserie rig -- mid second crack. I thought I had obliterated any trace of character from the beans, but the accidental dark roast is rich and flavorful. Tastes great as a pourover, an AeroPress, or a Mocha Pot. I want to repeat my happy accident. I'm ordering more!

This really is an outstanding coffee. My customers absolutely love it and are will to pay premium prices for it.
I roast this on a fluid bed Artisan 3-e to full city, which averages between 336-341.
This bean has a somewhat cooler first crack compared to other Ethiopians, I think this has to do with the really inconsistent bean-size.
That does make this one a little more tricky from the fluid bed standpoint, and I end up with maybe 5-10 quakers per 3lbs batch, but that should be expected from a “wild” coffee like this.
Overall, flavor is what matter to customers, and this coffee delivers that well to my most discerning consumers.
This is one I will be keeping in stock, hopefully as long as it lasts.

Pear, citrus, sweet honey, black tea... I taste all that in the background. But what really comes to the forefront for me is the buttery sweet taste of BLUEBERRY MUFFINS. It smells like them, it tastes like them, it's uncanny.
I'm using an Aeropress with a metal mesh for brewing.
As for Roasting:
Gene Cafe preheated to 350 or so, about 4 min of max heat. Then temp down to 420 while browning. As beans get mottled (6:30 min in or so), back to max heat until a solid City/City+ roast. Cooling fast on a cooling fan to finish. The end result looks light like a cinnamon roast (especially when grinding up), even though it got to the end of first crack. Confusing at first, but the flavor does taste slightly more sweet and less acidic like a city+ should.

My favorite coffee from CBC thus far. I usually roast just past 2nd crack as I like a good medium-dark roast, and these beans do beautifully at that level. I brew them for my morning cup, and they are delicious.

Although this beans didn’t roast uniformly and took a long time to roast, my light roast tasted amazing! Sweet blonde roast, by the way I’m a dark roast person, but for the sake of time I settled for a blond roast on this one. I roasted on cast iron over fire. I can’t wait to achieve a darker roast on this unique beans.

I bought these beans because of the great things of heard about Ethiopian-grown coffee, and this was my first time roasting at home. I did the simple skillet method and constantly stirred with a whisk. Roasted to just after first crack for a medium roast, and oh my goodness, this is delicious. No cream and sugar needed or recommended, because the natural flavors and sweetness are all you need. Fantastic bean that I will always use.

Was relatively new to the roasting game when I tried these guys. Roasted half a pound in my Hottop, and it was one of my first successful roasts, as well as one of my MOST successful. It came out smooth and unbelievably sweet. Strong honey & vanilla notes, and will be including it in my house roast. Thanks, CBC!

I love this coffee and love this company! Easy to find your favorite coffee (the search was accurate for me), easy to order, and they ship fast. I started ordering last year and have had not one problem. I did experiment with a couple of other kinds of coffee, but it reinforced to me that Organic Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is by far the best choice for me. I love roasting it in my cast iron skillets. So fun and easy to do. Nothing like hand roasting, winnowing, grinding, and French pressing your first pot and every pot. The house smells amazing and this makes a wonderful hand crafted gift. I’m a very happy repeat customer.

Have not had an Ethiopian I didn't like. the bag you sent the 5 lb. coffee in was cool but I think this bag needs some type of liner to prevent air from drying the seeds. I noticed a difference in roast after bag set a week or so in dark container at 74 F. I have not noticed the with other coffees from other vendors using zip lock style or bags with liners. I'm using Kaldi 7oz motorized roaster and usually roast city to city+ with Ethiopian seeds

Roasted to City+ on an SR800. This is an outstanding bean. Wife agrees this will be part of our regular rotation. Sweet, but not overpoweringly so, slightly nutty, dark chocolate on the back end, full- bodied. Balanced, no one attribute overpowers another. I'll be buying more and trying different roast levels. Cool thing about a quality bean like this is that once you find one you like, you can take it to various levels of darkness, and have, in effect, several "different" coffees to enjoy.

I have to say that for $8 a pound this seems like a bargain! I just started roasting with an SR540 air roaster. First batches were awful. After a couple of weeks I'm getting some really good coffee. I love Yirgacheffe and it seems like it's a 50/50 chance of buying a good one these days. I love the fruity, citrus taste. I don't love paying $20 a pound for coffee though. This one definitely stands up to the better ones I've had. I normally like a light roast and I find that I need to get this to a medium / dark roast for the flavor to come out. Tons of chaffe with this so using two colanders in the breeze helps remove it. I noticed that once a lot of chaffe starts forming on top I know it's done.

The Guji is a favorite! One of our customers purchases it from us Single Origin for his espressos, and we love putting it in a few of our blends to give them that fruity high note along with a satisfying mouth feel. Yes, you can smell the difference whether the bean is green or when you are grinding it. And yes, I can hardly wait for the brew to finish!

I have consistently purchased 50 pound orders of this bean and the last 2 orders I have struggled with pulling consistency from this lot. The most recent lot, no matter what profiles I am trying--I am continually getting a very bitter aftertaste from this bean. I just have a hard time believing that this bean is remotely the same bean as it was in the past. I have tried city, city+, full city and--while city does not highlight the bitter as much, even city is producing a soured acidity. I am finding that the bean is only passable in my gaggia espresso maker, but not good in my aero press. When I first ordered this bean way back, I was pulling complex fruity/chocolatey notes and a very full body. Very disappointed and would love to find out if changes were made via sourcing?

I've done Ethiopian Yergacheffe as a medium and light-medium roast, but not dark. Medium was about 30 s past 1st crack, and light-medium was just as first crack ended - SR540 roaster. Medium was citrus+dark chocolate and slightly bitter. Didn't expect that from an Ethiopian. Light-medium had too much citrus for me. I can understand how some people would like it, but I don't like the citrus bite in my coffee.
I've had a really smooth floral Ethiopiian from a place further north called Hamasho Village that I prefer.
I'll try roasting this Yerg to 2nd crack and see what happens.

Great bean but sensitive to temp. Roast too high and it loses all the different flavors and becomes like any other bean. Roast it just right and many flavors come out, mostly chocolate, and yet the acidity will not overwhelm. I am a repeat buyer of Ethiopean and blend it (mostly) with Central American beans.

Great coffee! Roasted in SR800 to the end of first crack and was just right for me. Brightness pairs with the body just right for a good taste that excites the sides of my tongue. I roasted in an air popper till I got the FreshRoast 800 a few months ago and I didn't get the good tasted I got with my 800. Maybe I just learned to fine tune my technique, lol. At City+ this coffee delivers on all the promises! I had to have a second cup right away, I just couldn't resist. And after drinking the second I had to fight the urge to have a third. The blueberry notes really came out at the finish and aftertaste. I really don't see how anyone could hate this coffee. I'll have to run it by my charcoal-water drinking son to see what he thinks though. LOL. Even in a latte the flavors come through loud and clear, and in fact there are some really lovely nuances that come out with milk that you don't get black. Fully extracted will give you some aspirin-like astringency black, but just a small amount of milk will smooth that out. So if you are making espresso, you might need to spend some time dialing it in to hit the sweet spot just before it gets over extracted, but with cappuccino or latte just go maximum extraction to get every last bit of the glorious flavor out of the bean and into your cup.

A good quality Yirgacheffe bean, with careful roasting is on par or better than local specialty roasters in my area. Produces the typical fruity aroma and taste that the region is known for. Not my personal favorite though my fiance loves it, so I'd recommend trying it at least once to see if it's for you.

This is by far the best bean I have ever purchased and roasted in the past three years. Using SR500, I dry the bean at low temperature for about 2 minutes, roast at medium temperature for about 4-5 minutes (depending on the outside temperature, or how strong I want the coffee to be), and cool them for 3 minutes. I'd be happy to learn how others roast this bean.

delivered on time, no bugs,, no bad beans.
This is in my top 3 ... (I also like Bali Blue Moon) .... this one has slight citrus with an earthy chocolate base. When very hot it waters up your mouth like a lemon (back sides of your tongue) but without a super strong citrus taste per se, slightly cool we taste the earthy chocolate and subtle citrus, and its good cool too... cold its good.
when I share this with folks I say taste for chocolate and slight citrus.. of course there is 'coffee' taste too.. that is the earthy part. its the chocolate and subtle citrus that stands out.
can't speak to roasting technique.... each roaster is different ... I use an air fryer with rolling basket ... very slow roast technique .... I take to just past 1st crack to just start of 2nd crack. fresh ceramic conical burr grind, slurp.
Have had batches that roast up and taste fine immediately, ,... most have to sit for a day though... and it seems sitting for 2 or 3 days is even better. You will know if it needs to sit , the brew will be very grassy, if so, let it sit.
How are organic beans (any bean) shipped across the ocean... in sealed bulk containers or in open burlap type containers? My understanding is that some/most food products get sprayed for bugs, rot and mold when traveling across oceans in freight liners ... so if coffee beans are shipped in open containers are they getting sprayed??? any info to support or rebut this? I doubt they are shipping these beans in 1 lb plastic sealed bags.
still love this coffee regardless - not stopping me from buying it.

This is my 3rd order of Ethiopia Organic Yirgacheffe FTO. So far I've had excellent and consistent flavor roast-to-roast. Very pleased.
A word of advice: if you live in a super dry climate as I do (SE Arizona), you need to work out a way to stabilize humidity while the beans are stored before roasting e.g. sealed tubs/containers. This most recent batch came in a GrainPro bag so I'm ok this time, but the previous order was in a jute bag and suffered from further drying over the 1-2 months of sitting,

I just started roasting beans over a year ago, and I have tried many beans from different sources and about 8 or 9 from coffee bean corral. The Ethiopian Organic Yirgacheffe is by far my favorite. I roast it in my FreshRoast SR500, which notoriously roasts inconsistently, to 1st crack or to beginning 2nd crack, and that range has provides a nice cup. My palate is not refined enough to describe the flavor, but I do love this coffee! The South American coffees I have roasted have all been too sweet for me, but this organic African one suits my tastes perfectly.

This FTO has changed, in my opinion. I'm not getting anything close to "bold - chocolatey with a carmelly texture, heavy fruits, and a sweet honeyness." I have kept the exact same roast profiles as always, but I am pulling bitter notes that are just not normal for this bean. I think I have ordered this FTO three times, each around 50 pound purchases. I don't know if sourcing has changed, but the bean is definitely not bringing the notes I grew to love on this lot.

I will preface the following comments by saying that I’m a novice to coffee roasting and unsophisticated in my assessment of the coffee qualities but I do know how a good coffee tastes.
I started by roasting these beans to the 2nd crack and loved it. I then roasted it to just after the 1st crack and felt it was just as good so I mixed the two together and it gave me a very enjoyable coffee. I still have a lot of coffees to try but this has certainly given me a yardstick to work with.

My first order from Coffee Bean Coral and I'm very happy. This organic yirgacheffe has been a great first experience.
Great flsvors all the way from almost-too-hot-to-drink right down to the last barely-warm dregs. Flavor variations over the whole temp range. Roasted to Full City and very pleased with the taste. I'll try a couple batches at FC+, but this will be hard to beat. And the price wasn't bad since it's yirgacheffe and it's organic.
