I bought a pound of these beans (Brazil Cerrado 17/18 Minas Gerais) based on other reviews, but now I know enough about them to form my own opinion about them. I roasted two 8 ounce batches in my Bullet, with the first batch ending at 415F IBTS. I learned from the first batch that these beans need some rest to really develop; three days seems to be about right. Ending at 415F is, I believe, too low, and the taste became rather vegetal until the 8th or 9th day of rest when that quality dissipated and was replaced by harshness. Letting the cup cool mostly corrected that, but it just wasn't quite what I felt it should be. There were hints of thickness, chocolate, smoothness, sweetness, but I expected more than hints. So, for my second roast I ended at 425F, hoping for more of what this bean promises. I hurriedly sampled it the day after I roasted it and was hit with some very harsh flavors; so I let the beans rest for two more days before trying again. Wow! What a difference those days made...this may very well be the best coffee I have ever drunk. Thick, smooth, not bitter, low acidity, chocolate and hazelnut, slight earthiness, medium sweetness, chocolate aftertaste that fades quickly. I have a pound of some other Brazilian beans that I bought with these, so I will be trying them before ordering more; but, the 17/18 has impressed me greatly and they are high on my list.

I have bought this bean multiple times. It is always very consistent and makes a very good tasting cup. I usually roast mine on the darker side and think that it takes on a very good flavor with this roast type. I would definitely recommend this bean to others.

Coffees from Brazil are some of my favorites, this one included. I love the nutty flavor and it is so smooth. I roast on a sheet pan in the oven and I am so impressed with the quality of coffee I get from here.

Roasted dark- smooth, sweet, low acidity- I would add a bit more “winey” to the profile. So good!!

I haven't been roasting my own beans for very long, but of the 6 or so varieties I've done, this bean has been the trickiest.
Again, probably just me because I'm still new to the hobby, but getting a consistent roast has taken a bit of work.
I'd also like to note, it produces a TON of chaff.

Very good bean. Makes excellent latte's.
Roasts very nice in a $17 popcorn popper machine. Just had a cup today, just wish my artwork was good, but hey doesn't effect the taste, LOL. 😃 definitely worth getting. 👍 👍

A very smooth roast! I love to roast it dark and there is no bitterness to it at all. I highly recommend these beans.

I’ve only been roasting my own beans for about a year and this was my first time with this one. I took it to a dark roast and let it sit for a few days before giving it a try. This is a good cup of coffee. It’s chocolatey and nutty with a slight sweetness. I can drink two or three cups of this throughout my morning, I just love it.

Roasted medium to medium dark.
1 batch each. Smooth taste. Plesant taste. Profile is correct.
Prepared in Krups EA8250 super automatic espresso machine. Strong, hottest setting.
Great Coffee. At the price, phenominal - great job.
